Title: Jesus and His Healing Ministry
1. Have you or know someone who was healed after prayers? What was the circumstance? Can you share what your reaction was?
2. Was there a situation where you have prayed for healing, either for yourself or someone else, but was not answered in the way you desire? How did you feel and what did you learn from that situation?
3. Describe the world Jesus came into in the 1st century? What are the similarities with and differences from the world of the 21st century?
4. From the following passages of Jesus’ healing ministry,
1) Simon’s mother in law 1:30
2) Healing of the leper 1:40
3) Healing of the paralytic 2:50
4) The man with the withered hand 3:1
5) The woman with the blood disease 5:28
6) The deaf man 7:31
7) The blind man 10:50
(a) What is the purpose of his healing ministry and other miracles? What does
the healing tell us about Jesus’ character?
(b) What is the relationship between faith and healing? Where should we place
our faith?
(c) What are some principles we can derived from Jesus’ healing ministry?
(d) Do you thing there are some of the misplaced emphasis some of the modern
day “healers” tend to have? Can you give some examples?
5. Where did Jesus place his healing ministry in relation to why he came to this world and what he had come to do? V.38. Can you comment on this: “The ultimate healing in life is our relationship with God.”
6. So far in our study of the Gospel of Mark, have you met a Jesus you did not know before? What have you discovered? Can you use one word to describe one of your new discoveries?
7. What and how would you change in your prayer for healing now if you or your loved ones were seriously ill?
8. Besides physical illness, do you have any spiritual illness that you want
to bring to Jesus?
